Obituary

Sis. Willie Mae Gray was born on October 31, 1956 to the late Robert and Willie O. Gray, in Saint Francisville, LA. She departed this life on June 6, 2021. She was six of twelve children. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church by Rev. George C. Pierce. She attended Scotlandville Junior and Senior High School. She decided at age 16 to pursue a career in Job Corps in the area of nursing. She graduated as a CNA and returned back to Baton Rouge where she worked for over 40 years as a nursing assistant at multiple nursing homes here in Baton Rouge area. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 which ended her career in nursing. She retired but in 2013 she became caregiver of her sister Pearlie Gray until her passing.

She leaves to cherish two sisters: Annie Gray-Mealey of Houston, TX and Pearlie Gray of Baker, LA. Six brothers: (Leroy Irene) Gray Sr., Robert Gray Jr., Joseph Gray, Richard Gray, Hayes Gray (Houston TX), and Lionel Gray; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

She preceded in death by parents, Robert (Willie Olivia) Gray Sr. One brother Lonnie Ramsey, Three sisters: Hettie Myers, Hazel Gray Stewart, and Earline Monroe. Maternal and praternal grandparents. Host of uncle, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation: Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. until religious service at 12 Noon. Visiting at The Greater New Galilee Baptist Church: 9185 Wilbur St., Baton Rouge, La. 70807.  Dr.  Mark A. Litt, Sr., Pastor: Officiating.  Interment held at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery.
