Lionel Washington, born June 25, 1949, in New Orleans,
Louisiana to the union of Eddie Washington, Sr of Evergreen, La and Bertha Wiley of Evergreen,
La. He was the youngest of five children.
At an early age Lionel gave his life to Christ. He loved the Lord, and he loved his family. He worked
at the Toyota Dealership in Chalmette, Louisiana for 11 years, loading and unloading cars. Before
retiring and moving to Baton Rouge, he worked as a mechanic with Donald at his mechanic shop in
New Orleans. He was a self-made master mechanic.
Lionel was very talented with his hands, in making and fixing things, and very imaginative. Wherever
Lionel went, he never knew a stranger. He had a very kind heart, and always gave his last; everyone
often called on him for his expertise in whatever matter he or she had.
Lionel answered his call to Glory on Friday, July 8th at 8:15 a.m.
Those who have gone on before him are, his father, Eddie Washington, Sr. His mother, Bertha
Wiley Washington, a brother, Eddie Washington, Jr. and a sister, Cecile Washington.
Lionel leaves behind to cherish his memories a son, Andre' (Kelly Joseph-) Brooks of Dallas, Texas.
A sister, Yvonne Woodeson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A brother, David (Adlonia Haydel-)
Washington, also of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Two granddaughters, Lori LaShawn Brooks, and
Kristy Nicole Brooks- (Michael) Hosley, of Dallas, Texas. One niece, 5 nephews, Two close brother-
friends Errol "Guy" Joseph & Lawrence Lyons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives,
and friends.
There will be a viewing only for the public on Friday, July 15, 2022, 11:00a – 2:00p. The immediate
family will have a private farewell afterwards.
