Obituary

Leroy Worth Brazier, Il was bom to Leroy W Brazier and Mary Lee Mitchell Brazier on January 5, 1962.

"Roy" was the only child to this union. He was born in Valdosta, GA, and returned to Baton Rouge for a short while before permanently moving to Chicago, IL where both his parents taught in the Chicago Public Schools.

Leroy would visit his mother at (Mahalia Jackson Elementary) work, eyeing a particular student who happened to be the girl across the street. He graduated from Gresham Elementary in 1975 flowing into Robert Lindbloom HS in 1979 followed by a couple years at Louisiana State University before returning to Chicago to help take eare of his grandmother. He transferred to Chicago State University and discovered college life was not his forte. He began dating that student from across the street and after a moderate courtship, married Lisa R Thurmond.

While courting, he joined the US NAVY in 1985 participating In specialized training as an aviation electrician. He was assigned to aircraft carrier USS Saratoga CV60 during the Libya/Gulf of Sidra & Operations El Dorado Canyon (1986 - 1987), earning several medals. Roy committed four years to active duty and four years to reserve service. In 1992, he began a career at Corn Products working until his health failed in 20()5, forcing him to medically retire. Even with mechanical assistance, he fought to survive until the Lord said ••enough" and called him home.
