Joyce Marie Hayes Hunt was born on September 22, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Leon Hayes and Lucille Henderson.  She was graciously raised by her maternal grandmother, Mary Henderson.  She was united in holy matrimony on July 31, 1999, to Charles Hunt, Jr. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Joyce was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a faithful member of Upper Room Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under the leadership of Pastor Carolyn Landry. Joyce was a graduate of Capitol Senior High School and for many years she was employed as a "Caretaker" having rendered dedicated services to those in need.

Joyce leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted husband; Charles Hunt, Jr.; a son, Darryl Hayes; five stepdaughters:  Tiffany Gray, Patricia Carter, Shelia Manadier, Audrey (Wellington) Lamb Grant and Cathy (Tyrone) Thompson; two stepsons: Alvin Walker and Charles (Ykeeta) Hunt, III; a sister, Sharon Miller; brother, Joseph Ford, Jr.; brother-in-law, Leonard Patterson; a great niece, Johnisha and (her children: Tiawan and Kye'leigh) of whom she reared as her own grandchildren, a special friend, Agnes Thornton, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
