Josephine Batiste was born September 25th, 1941, to the union of Abe Joseph and Leona Morgan Batiste in Baton Rouge, LA. Sister Batiste departed the life on September 14th, 2025.

At the age of 9, Josephine accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Alpine Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. F.K. Alpine. She later became a member of Nazerene Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor George R. Clark.

Sister Batiste was a loyal and devoted member of the Deaconess and Home Mission Ministries and the Sunday School where she served faithfully until her death.

Sister Batiste graduated from capitol High School in 1959. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University. She was employed by the EBR Parish School System for 34 years. During that time, she received the district honor of being principal of the year.

Sister Batiste leaves to cherish her memories a devoted goddaughter Rita Lynn (Weldon) Dunston, Denham Springs, LA; God granddaughter Sheba (Chad) Green; God grandsons George(Shatant) Knox, Jamon(Shanice) Ross, all of Baton Rouge Louisiana; God-great grandchildren; Latassia Dunn, Fort Worth, Texas, Mykia Finley, Miami, FL. Jalesia Parker, Jaruicka Parker Ayanna Andrew, Kentrell Knox, Ja'Kyla Joseph, Ja'Kyra Joseph, Ellis Turner III, Cullen Ross all of Baton Rouge, LA.; Reginald Dunn, Addis, Louisiana, Jamilah Ross, Port Allen, LA; God great-great grandson Ronald Cyrus III, Fort Worth, Texas.

Sister Batiste was preceded in death by her parents Alse Joseph and Leona Batiste, brother Roland Batiste, adopted son Wilbert Brown and God grandson Tassy Dunn.
