Gordon Edward Davis, Sr., affectionately known as Brother or Flash passed away on April 5, 2025. He
was born on December 16, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the esteemed CB and Ruth Taylor
Davis. After high school, Gordon embarked on a distinguished journey with the United States
Marine Corps, where he earned numerous prestigious honors, including the National Defense
Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one-star, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Sharpshooter
Badge. Upon his return to Baton Rouge, he pursued higher education at Southern University.
Gordon's life was enriched by his marriage to Martha Guillory, and together they were blessed with
four wonderful children: Tiko, Tia, Gordon Jr., and Nikki Davis. As a devoted husband and father,
Gordon's love and dedication to his family were unwavering. He worked diligently in a chemical
plant and later as a truck driver, demonstrating his resilience and commitment. When he became
disabled, Gordon embraced his role as a caregiver, nurturing his children and grandchildren with
boundless love.
A man of many passions, Gordon delighted in cooking and barbecuing, often extending his
generosity by mowing neighbors' lawns without charge. Football was a fervent passion of his, both
in high school and during his time in the Marine Corps. His love for movies spanned all genres, and
he cherished good music throughout his life.
Gordon's spiritual journey led him to convert to Catholicism, becoming an active member of the
Legion of Mary and St. Paul Catholic Church. His dedication to the Legion of Mary saw him visiting
church members who were homebound, in hospitals, and nursing homes. He later found his true
calling in the church's Sound Ministry.
Gordon leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his two sons, Tiko (Keishanna)
of Pearland, Texas, and Gordon Jr. of Central, Louisiana; two sisters, Melba King and Ora Montigue
of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two brothers, Rudolph Davis (Janet) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and
Robert Montigue (Gail) of Newport News, Virginia; a close friend, Larry King; four grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved parents, CB and Ruth Davis; his two precious
daughters, Tia Marie and Nikki Ruth Davis; and his two dear sisters, Yvonne Warren and Catherine
Atkins.
