A Celebration of Life for Eddie Leon Newton, Jr., 86, will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Promised Land Baptist Church 7234 Plank Rd, Baton Rouge, LA. Pastor Perry Wright, Jr. will officiate the service. A visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. until service time. Eddie was born in Jonesville, LA. on October 14, 1938, to the late Eddie Newton Sr. and Pinkey Matthews Newton. He entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge surrounded by his family.

Eddie an amazing storyteller, is survived by his beloved children; Yolandra Newton, Roderic Newton, Phaedra Cusic, and Nicole Newton; his longtime companion, Lucille Ghoram, her children, Lahoma Harris and Sedrick Ghoram; grandchildren Jerica Mitchell, Roderic RJ Newton, Alana Buckley, Paris Jones and husband Wendal; great grandchildren, Harlee Hill, Denver Jones and Devyn Baker Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
