Darnell Holmes transitioned peacefully on July 31, 2021 at the Capitol House, at the age of 63.  He was a native of Port Hudson, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA.  Darnell was born December 11, 1957 to his late parents George Leon Holmes, Sr., and Sarah Porter Holmes.

Darnell graduated from Zachary High and after enlisted in the United States Army.  Darnell worked as floor installer for over twenty years.  He enjoyed being with family and friends, having fun, joking around, eating, and drinking.  He will forever be missed.

Darnell leaves to cherish his memories, (3) daughters, Monica (Jeff) Lipscomb, Houston, Texas,  Lavontria (Sherman) Johnson, San Diego, California and Marquita Johnson, Baton Rouge, LA; (1) son, Joey (Chanel) Holmes, Dallas, Texas; (9) grandchildren, Jessica and Maxwell Lipscomb, Leilani and Bryson Johnson,  Kyrion Johnson,  Cinceir, Ciara, Cyan, and Justice Holmes; (2) sisters, Perlinda (Kelvin) Spencer and Georgette Holmes, Baton Rouge, LA; (1) brother, Gregory P. Holmes (Crystal Johnson) Baton Rouge, LA; Step-Mother, Rosalind Holmes, Baton Rouge, LA; (2) sisters-in-law, Janice Hayes and Nancy D. Holmes, Zachary, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Darnell was preceded in death by his parents, George L. Holmes, Sr. and Sarah Porter Holmes; grandparents, Henry and Lydia Walker Porter, James and Lucinda Harris Holmes; (5) brothers, George Jr., James, David, Weldon, and Norman Holmes.
