Clay Alexander Jr. was born on February 11, 1952, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the late Clay and Martha Alexander. He peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 73.

Clay had a deep and unwavering love for the Lord. He was a devoted member of St. Paul Free Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Pernell Williams. Clay faithfully served as a member of the church choir, where he often led some of his favorite hymns, including "God Has Smiled on Me" and "That's Alright." He was also a proud member of the "Sons of Thunder" gospel group, sharing his love for music and worship wherever he served.

Clay was a graduate of Scotlandville High School, where he excelled in track and field. Following high school, he began a long and dedicated career with the Baton Rouge City-Parish, working as a Maintenance Operator and later advancing to Maintenance Supervisor before retiring in 2009. Never one to remain idle, Clay later returned to the workforce as a Crossing Guard for the Baton Rouge Police Department, continuing his commitment to service and community.

Clay leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Frankie; two daughters, Carletta and Laclasha; one son, Clay Alexander III; three sisters, Faye (his twin), Deloris, and Joyce; two sisters-in-law, Chergann and Geraldine; six grandchildren, including three grandsons and three granddaughters; along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and two brother-in-laws.

Clay Alexander Jr. will be remembered for his faith, his voice in song, his dedication to family, and his lifelong service to his community.
