Charles Perry Nettles affectionately known as "Dickey", was born November 15, 1933. His loving parents were the late Mose and Emma Davis. On March 29, 1959, he was united in Holy matrimony to Gloria Franklin. Together they raised two children, Malcolm Glasper and Karla Nettles Allen. He was a faithful member and deacon of First Alpine Baptist Church.

Charles was a 1952 graduate of Southern University Laboratory School. In January 1954, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1958 with the rank of E-4 First Class Airman. After completing his service career, Charles returned to school earing advanced degrees from Southern University, Tuskegee Institute, and Louisiana State University. Charles retired with over 30 years in education as a Special Education teacher, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 62 years Gloria Nettles; one son, Malcolm Glasper; one daughter, Karla Nettles Allen (Keteria);  three granddaughters, Ahttiana  Tolbert (Nick), Lou Glasper, and Kaitrlyn Montgomery; seven great-grandchildern, Hayden, Tryshton, and Chrystian Tolbert, Ka'Mayria and Ka'Mayrion Glasper, Hilliari Horton, and Kelvin Ellis, Jr.; two brothers, Alex S. Davis (Monica) and Bobby R. Davis, Sr. (Jannette); one sister-in-law, Betty Munson; one brother-in-law, Francis Franklin, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal and maternal grandparents, and father and mother-in-law.
