Arteal (Artile) Matthews Williams was born May 11,1926 to Jonas Matthews and Anna Matthews.

On April 7, 2022, she was called to rest at the age of 95 while sleeping peacefully at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice.

Arteal accepted Christ at an early age and spent her lifetime doing his work.

She was a high school graduate and later graduated from Cosmetology School and became a licensed Beautician.

Arteal was married to James Ennis Sr.; to this union 3 children were born, James Jr., Sylvia and Harold.

She later married Eddie Williams and together they shared a daughter Anita.

Arteal was a wife, mother, homemaker as well as a businesswoman.  She dedicated many hours volunteering for her church.  Most of all she was a child of God, sharing his word to all who would listen.  Arteal was a kind and loving person that never met a stranger.  She would give her last if she felt someone else was in need.  In her later years she served on the deaconess board at Beech Grove Baptist Church as well as being a member of The Golden Age Ministry.

Arteal leaves to mourn her passing, two sons James Ennis Jr. (Wendy) and Harold Ennis (Dorothy) both of Baton Rouge, LA; two daughters Sylvia Frazier (Feltus Jr,) and Anita Williams-Thomas both of Baton Rouge, LA; 18 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 37 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Arteal was preceded in death by her parents Jonas Matthews and Anna Matthews; her husband Eddie Williams; brother Charlie Matthews; sisters Stella Twine, Hilda Butler and Harriet Vaughn.
